Laverne Senst

Laverne H. Senst, 89, of Rochester, MN passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Saint Marys Hospital. Laverne was born October 5, 1928 to Alfred and Laura (Redding) Senst in Bremen, MN. In 1937 he moved with his family to a farm near Plainview, MN. he was baptized in Bremen and confirmed in Plainview. He attended Plainview Parochial School and Plainview High School. He farmed with his father until 1952. On October 28, 1951 he married the former, Martha Boettcher at Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church in rural Racine, MN. In 1952 they moved to Rochester. He was a longtime employee of R.E.A. Railway Express. When the company collapsed he was employed at Wilson Refrigeration driving a semi-truck. He retired in 1995. He enjoyed going to auctions, antiques, gardening (especially growing potatoes) and politics. He is survived by his wife, Martha; son, Allen (Kim) Senst; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Rob) Deming, Jeffrey (Jessie) Senst, Angela (Nick) Angel and Jesse Schleusner; four great-grandchildren, Charlie, Joy, Caleb and Isaac and one brother, Clarence (Dolores) Senst and a sister-in-law, Mary. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cindy; three brothers and a sister. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes with the Reverend Nathaniel Schwartz officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview.
