Laverne "Bud" C. Mcgowan

Funeral services for LaVerne Bud C. McGowan, 91, of Byron will be at 2:00pm on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes.Visitation will be from 5:00 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and also one hour prior to the service.Burial will be at Pleasant Prairie Cemetery in rural Rochester. LaVerne Charles McGowan was born on December 29, 1924 in Hewitt, MN to Cordy and Alice (Swenson) McGowan.He died on May 29, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Hospital - St. Marys Campus. LaVerne married Esther Berg in 1945.They lived in Rochester and Douglas before moving to Byron in 1952.LaVerne worked for the Olmsted County Highway Maintenance.He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and tinkering with things. Survivors include his children; Daryl of Hayfield, Diane (Jon) Tangen of Eyota and Daniel (Michelle) of Byron; six grandchildren, Daryn McGowan, Traci Fagerlind, Darcy Rauchwarter, Tara Tangen, David Miller and John McGowan; seven great grandchildren, Katie, Travis, Ashley, Kaylee, Rose, Kyle and James; two sisters, Genevieve Helmbrecht of Henning, MN and Arlene Stromback (Dwight Gustafson) of Red Wing, MN.He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse Esther in 2004 and daughter-in-law, Judy McGowan. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to a charity of the donors choice.
