LaVerne M. Boe, 94 of Rochester, MN died Monday, September 18, 2017 at her residence. LaVerne Marcelyn Enger was born January 15, 1923 in Halstad, MN to Edwin and Agnes (Olson) Enger. Her family farmed near Halstad and later moved to Pine Center and then to Bemidji, MN. LaVerne married Lloyd Boe on December 27, 1943 in Bagley, MN. They lived in Bagley, Bemidji, Little Fork, Wilton, Effie and a few other places where Mr. Boe worked as a Forester for the Department of Natural Resources. Often during the spring and fall LaVerne worked in the fire towers watching for fires. They moved and made their home in Rochester in 1968 where she worked as a secretary at Calvary Baptist Church for 28 years. LaVerne was a great care taker, taking care of anyone that needed it in her family. Family was important to her and she loved reading her Bible. LaVerne enjoyed the outdoors, her home with all the trees, sewing, gardening, canning and an occasional trip somewhere to see family and friends. She was an extraordinary cook and was well known for her baked goods. She is survived by her children, Gayle (Robert, deceased) Jacobs of Larkspur, CO and Forrest (Karri) Boe of Hastings, MN; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; one daughter, Marcelyn Kittelson; and one sister, Elaine Wark. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church (5905 Silas Dent Road NW Rochester, MN 55901) on Saturday, September 23, 2017. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 22 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
