Larry Henry Lengerman passed into glory on July 24th. He was born February 27, 1941 and grew up in Grand Meadow, Minnesota. Larry spent his early years tagging along with his Grandpa Henry and Grandma Julie on the family farm. Larry learned a lot about building, design, and mechanics from his Grandpa that served him well later in life. Larry enjoyed building cars, motorcycles, tractors, go-karts, and gazebos. Larry served in the National Guard from 1963-69. He also spent many years working and tinkering at R.G. Gross Service in Grand Meadow with his good friend, Bob Gross. Larry worked as a mechanical engineer for IBM for 29 years before his retirement in 1994. He was awarded numerous government patents during his time with IBM. Retirement was not for Larry, and he returned to work at Pemstar, now Benchmark Electronics, where he was employed full time until his passing. Larry truly loved his work and all of the new products and technology they developed. Larry was a teacher, mentor, and friend to many over the years during his time with IBM and Benchmark. Larry was a country boy at heart and he and his wife Judy hand cleared many acres of land near Mantorville in the 1980's. Larry also built a motocross track in Mantorville for his son Dane. He happily served as Dane's pit boss for many years while Dane raced motorcycles throughout Minnesota. Larry was also a John Deere man, and customized and built many tractors, farm implements, and gadgets over the years. Larry loved the outdoors and mowing lawn was a passion. For the last eight years, Larry and Judy lived happily in Mantorville in a multi-generational household with their son Dane and daughter-in-law, Kelly. Larry was able to enjoy the outdoors every day. Larry is survived by his wife, Judy, son, Dane (Kelly), and sisters Laureen (Alan) Sprau, and Judy (Bob) Witherow. He was preceded in death by his brother Randy and beloved dog Rufus.
