Koeun Neth, 98, of Rochester, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at his home on Friday, December 11, 2015. Koeun was born February 1, 1917 in Takeo, Cambodia. In 1975 he married Ren Prom. He came to the United Sates in 1984 and resided in Rochester, MN ever since. He is a big part of the Rochester Buddhist Society since their old location in SW Rochester. He was the 2nd monk in Rochester to help start the community and traveled around the States to promote the temple and helped sponsor monks coming to the States. Koeun donated and helped raise money to build the new temple on Marion Rd. Koeun is survived by his loving wife, Ren; eight children, Keang Neth of Cambodia, Neang Loeun, Sarum (Mei) Uth, Samon (Tha Nuon) Nhean, Leang (Steven Ard) Chau, Saroeung (Thean Thuon) Soeun, Cynthia (Andrew Thim) Neth, Saruon (Joni Son) Neth; twenty grandchildren, Johnny (Anna) Tapy, Tawea, Tapkannia, Michael, Alexis, Ravy, Riya, Veasna, Pakeeni, Sokana, Sokcheatha, Koeundara, Koeundarith, Kaekrana, Kiarra, Tyric, Danatay, Tyrenita, Taivonte and great-granddaughter, Jaelyn. Koeun was preceded in death by his brother, Nop Neth; sister, Mom Neth and by his parents. Visitation will be held 4:00-8:00PM Friday, December 18, 2015 at the Rochester Buddhist Temple 4462 29th St. SE., Rochester, MN 55904. A funeral service will be held 4:00PM Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW., Rochester with additional visitation beginning at 3:00PM at the funeral home until time of the service.
