Kimiko (Kim) Sorensen, 82, of Rochester, passed away at Golden Living Center Rochester West on Wednesday, May 11, 2016. Kim was born in the village of Motobu-cho, Okinawa.She was the sixth of eight children born to Kaki and Kana Kobashigawa. Kim and Gene were married on January 11, 1956 in Naha, Okinawa then sailed home to the United States and started their family of six children. Kim loved spending time with her children, fishing, playing bingo and gambling. She worked at the Holiday Inn South then later worked at St Mary's Hospital in the laundry for eighteen years. During retirement they spent the winter months in Arizona and summer months in Rochester. She is survived by her sister Yoshiko and brother Isamu of Okinawa.Husband Eugene M. Sorensen of Rochester and their six children. Sharon of Phoenix, AZ, Brenda of Eyota, Bob (Dawn) of Rochester, Donny of Rochester, Ronnie of Rochester and Ricky of Preston. Ten grandchildren Buffi Dukart, Joddi Denman, Brandon McMahan, Shannon McMahan, Samantha Bell-Sorensen, Lehua Sorensen, Jett Sorensen, Jacob Sorensen, Nicholas Sorensen, Alyannah Sorensen and eight great grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her mother and father, four brothers Kajin, Yoshinori, Yoshiichi and Kasei, sister Hatsu and son Tokuhiro all from Okinawa, and grandson Jeremy Sorensen. There will be a funeral service on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes.Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
