Ketan Earl Schwerman

With his beloved Nana holding onto his hand, My son Ketan was welcomed into Heaven and Jesuss Loving arms on Saturday 6/24/17. I have never admired someone as much as Ketan for his determination to live despite his many health issues. He always had a huge smile for me every day despite how badly he felt. You are now free to walk and run and play without being confined to your wheelchair my sweet Buddy. Your pain and suffering have now been replaced with constant smiles, laughter and kisses from Nana. I want to first kindly and sincerely thank Dr Selim for your wonderful care while Ketan transitioned onto a home ventilator and his care thereafter. You never hurried me during any of our conversations or appointments. When I knew it was time to discuss Palliative or Hospice care for my sweet boy you were right there to answer my questions and help me make informed decisions transitioning into the next phase of Ketans life. And to Mayo Clinic Hospice for your outstanding care and helped ame allow Ketan to peacefully pass away in his own bed at home. I want to thank all of you for your behind the scenes work and protocols that were formed to allow Ketan to remain at home until the end. Special thx to Dr Bock, Emily, Maureen, Angie, Jeanne, Rachel, Teresa, Ashly, Nicole, Stephanie, Brent, Ginger, Kelley and all of the awesome team members that I never met but helped behind the scenes. I have never been more touched by the sincere love you showed for Ketan and myself during this very hard decision and time. Your outpouring of love for someone you just had met was very touching. A warm and heart felt thank you to my family for all of your support and love. This would have been a very difficult journey without all of you. I never would have been able to keep Ketan in the home without all of your love, support and help and especially when I needed extra hands caring for him. To Debbie, TJ, Glenn, Jamie, Hunter, Jennifer and Connor. Thank you so much for not only all of your support but also help in so many ways while I cared for Ketan and didnt have to worry about other household chores etc. And to mom and dad for letting us live with you and putting on the handicapped addition to allow easier care for my son. We love you all. Thank you to our Redeemer Lutheran Church family, especially Micheal Harvey and Pastor Koglin, Jan Dickie and Gloria Poch for your visits and to everyone else for your prayers and well wishes. He was truly loved by our Redeemer family. A special thank you to my CP family support group whom I have developed several very close relationships with, especially you my sweet Sis Antonia! I couldnt have gone through these last months without your support and words of love and encouragement. Ive never met anyone quite like you. Youve been able to read my mind, feel my pain even though we are hundreds of miles apart. Our boys are definitely Soul Brothers too! Ketan loves you Ivan! And lastly, but not least Sabino for all of your wonderful musical talents. You guys have made me some awesome memories of my sweet boy that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Ketans beloved Nana preceded him in death. Nana gave him unconditional love and selflessly helped care for him when he was young. He is now once again under her watchful and loving eyes. Ketan was also preceded in death by his Uncle Michael Cummings. Ketan, Youve taught me more in the past 27+ years than most people learn in a lifetime. Your famous smile has been imprinted in my memory and will never fade. You are my HERO!! You are my only Sunshine !! Love your biggest fan, Mama I am not broken, I am beautiful. I am proud I have been chosen to help you learn and grow, the joy you have brought me is more than you can know.
