Memorial services for Kermit K. Zimmerman, 90, of Rochester will be at 11:00am on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Peace United Church of Christ with the Rev. Paul Bauch officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at Oakwood Columbarium at a later date. Kermit Kenneth Zimmerman was born on October 11, 1925 in Rochester to August and Zanna (Hanley) Zimmerman. Kermit passed away on July 23, 2016 at Seasons Hospice. He served in the United States Navy during WWII from 1943-1946 and on November 29, 1947 he married Violet Hammel at Peace United Church of Christ. The couple made their home in Rochester where Kermit worked as a mechanic and in construction. He was a member of Peace United Church of Christ and started a four-wheel drive club. He enjoyed coin collecting, trapshooting, old cars and gardening. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Zimmerman of St. Louis Park, MN, Nancy Zimmerman of Rochester and Aurora (David) Miller of Rochester; two sons, Stanley Zimmerman of Longmont, CO and Gary Zimmerman of Eyota; two grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, one great granddaughter and one step-great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, six brothers and two sisters. Memorials are suggested to Peace United Church of Christ.
