Kenneth Wayne Roland, 85, of Rochester, MN, passed away peacefully at Mayo Clinic Hospital - Rochester, Saint Marys Campus on November 26, 2021. He was born on October 21, 1936, to Elmer and Ella (Beck) Roland. He grew up on a farm in Zumbro Falls and attended Dale Country School. He walked a few miles rain or shine and claimed it really was uphill both ways. Ken married Sharon Joan Lynch on September 27, 1958. They spent sixty wonderful years together and had three children: Deborah Logan (Michael), Jeff Roland, and Terry Pearson. Ken moved to Rochester and started his career at IBM where he worked until his retirement. He also enjoyed driving school bus for many years and was loved by all the kids. He was a talented woodworker and sold his creations at craft shows. Ken loved his family and friends and spent many days planning adventures that brought everyone together from boating and camping trips to picnics, concerts, auctions, and the Minnesota State Fair. He had a mischievous spirit and was always ready to yank someone's chain. Ken was an avid outdoorsman, and most of all, he was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ken is survived by his children, Deborah Logan, Jeff Roland, and Terry Pearson; grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, Matthew, Lacey, Amanda, and Melissa; great-grandchildren, Kylie, Grace, Hudson, Landon, Parker, Grant, Darius, and Milana. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on June 14, 2019, brothers Richard and Ronald, and son-in-law, Michael Logan. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 4, at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes in Rochester with Pastor Colleen Hoeft officiating. Burial will be in the Dale Pleasant Prairie Cemetery in rural Zumbro Falls. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes.
