Kenneth J. Slattery, 81, of Rochester, MN passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Saint Marys Hospital. Kenneth John was born March 12, 1936 to Thomas and Barbara (Kurtz) Slattery in Chicago, IL. After graduating from St. Ignatius High School in Chicago, he attended the College of the Holy Cross. On August 1, 1959, he married Joan Reinhard. The couple started their lives together in Chicago and later moved to New Lenox, IL. Ken spent his entire career as an IBEW Local 134 electrician working in and around the Chicago area. After retiring in 1998, Ken and Joan technically moved to Arizona but spent many years traveling the country in their RV. Ken moved to Rochester in 2016 to enjoy his twilight years closer to family. During his time in New Lenox he enjoyed coaching Pop Warner football and served ten years on the planning and zoning committee. In retirement, Ken spent his time playing pickle ball, improving his computer/ipad skills and trying his hand at various arts and crafts. No matter his age, Ken loved watching and talking Notre Dame Football. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Joan of Rochester, MN; one daughter, Sherry (David) Nevins of Cuba City, WI; two sons, Matthew (Beverly) Slattery of Channahon, IL and Mark (Angie) Slattery of Rochester, MN; four grandchildren, Cody, Scott, Devin and Liam; one brother, Lee (Mary) Slattery of Bardonia, NY and one sister-in-law, Kay Slattery of Surprise, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Don. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Pax Christi Catholic Church. Visitation will be Monday, May 22, 2017 at 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
