Kathryn "Kay" Mae Mathews

ORONOCO -Kathryn Kay M. Mathews, 78, died on Monday, January 14, 2013 at home surrounded by her family. Kay was born in Genoa, MN on September 5, 1934 to Ted and Leona (Kelch) Jones.She graduated from Rochester High School.Kay worked at Mayo Clinic for three years.She then was a homemaker and helped on the family farm in Oronoco.Kay married Frank Mathews in Douglas, MN on May 22, 1954.She enjoyed dancing, Country music, gardening, flowers, baking, fishing, canning, casinos, going on outings, and getting together with her family and grandkids. Kay is survived by her husband of 58 years, Frank; four children, Terry (Rhonda) Mathews, of Oronoco, Nancy (Mark) Kuhlmann, of Oronoco, Duane (Luellen Lewis) Mathews, of Oronoco, and Roger (Julie) Mathews, of Oronoco; six grandchildren, Tony Mathews, of Fargo, ND, Crystal (Jaime Martinez) Mathews, of Rochester, Markie Kuhlmann, of Oronoco, Larame Kuhlmann, of Pine Island, Katrina Kuhlmann, of Winona, and Mason Mathews, of Oronoco; eight great grandchildren, Baily, Brandon, Jasiah, Meeka, Olivia, Sofia, Joselyn, and Elena; and a sister, Joan (John) Befort, of Byron; Kay is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; a brother; and a son. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, January 18, 2013 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home with Chaplain Scott Jorgenson officiating.Visitation will be from 3-7 P.M. on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.Interment will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
