Kathleen (Keeny) Petersen became an angel in Heaven on March 7, 2022 at the young age of 79. She left our earth peacefully at home, surrounded by caring staff and family. Keeny was born in Rochester, MN on November 13, 1942, and graduated from John Marshall High School. After graduation, Keeny and her family moved to Seattle, WA where Keeny was one of the first participants in a sheltered workshop, where she worked until her retirement. She was proud of those paychecks she earned and enjoyed independently walking to the stores nearby to spend that money. Her shopping was never complete until it contained something purple, be It grapes or a pair of purple socks. She loved her pets, both real and those covered in plush (usually purple) fur. Her favorite hobby was coloring and despite her tremors, she determinedly completed tons of precisely colored pictures and proudly shared them with her friends and family. Keeny was born to Ruth (Kyllo) and Kenneth Petersen and is survived by sisters, Virginia Harms and Penny Petersen and her brother, Kurt Petersen. She loved all her nieces, nephews and extended family. Virginia and Penny would like to thank all her staff from her Rem River Bluff home, ABC AO staff, caseworker Terri Kaczorowski, and all the Mayo Hospice caregivers for their care and support. A service will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester and everyone is encouraged to wear purple in memory of Keeny. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until time of the service. Rev. Kellie Tracz will be officiating. The family requests masks be worn to protect all at risk attendees. Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Petersen family. To share a special memory or condolence, please visit www.ranfranzandvinefh.com
