ROCHESTER, MINN:June E. Barnhart, 91, died Sunday, September 27, 2015 under hospice care at Cottagewood Senior Community. June Elna Swanson was born March 28, 1924 to John and Florence (Anderson) Swanson in rural Trimont, Martin County, MN. June graduated from Mankato Beauty School and married Adolph Quade and the couple moved to Chicago, IL. While he was serving in WWII, June worked for Douglas Aircraft. After his discharge, the couple moved to Minneapolis, MN where June managed several businesses. Adolph died in 1968 at the Minneapolis V.A. Hospital. June married Fay Bahe in Richfield, MN. After his retirement, the couple moved and lived in Austin, TX until his death in 1979. June moved to North Mankato, MN in 1982 and worked as a beauty supply representative. In 1985, she married the Rev. Jerald Barnhart in North Mankato where he was a chaplain for three health care homes. When he retired in 1995, the couple moved to their Northwest Rochester home. June worked part time as a home care companion for the elderly and shut ins. June enjoyed ballroom dancing, homemaking, and cooking. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 11, Mankato, MN and held many offices, including President and Post 92 Auxiliary, Rochester, MN and was a member of the 40 & 8, Dames. June was a member of VFW Post 1215 Auxiliary. June enjoyed crocheting and made fifty shawls/ lap robes for health care residents. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ and its Peace Saints for Seniors and volunteered in the church office. June is survived by her husband the Rev. Jerald Barnhart, Rochester, MN; three step children, Norman (Mia) Barnhart, Chisago City, MN, T. Scott (Sharon) Barnhart, LaCrosse, WI and Weston (Miyuki) Barnhart Lund; and four step grandchildren, and two step great grandchildren; she is also survived by her brother Dale (Joyce) Swanson, Fairmont, MN and nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, three brothers, an infant brother, Stanley and Oscar; three sisters Pearl, Faye and Fern. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Peace United Church of Christ with the Rev. Paul Bauch officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Thursday. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Sunset Memorial Park, Minneapolis, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Peace United Church of Christ, Alzheimer Association, Minnesota Chapter or donors choice.
