Julie A. Podolske, age 74, of Rochester, died on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at her home surrounded by family. A celebration of life will be from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 974 Skyline Dr in Rochester, on Saturday, July 21, 2018. The inurnment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to cancer or multiple sclerosis research. Julie Anne Schmidt was born on June 11, 1944, in Eau Claire, WI, to Arthur and Wanda (Squires) Schmidt. Her family moved to Rochester when she was 6 years old. In 1962, Julie graduated from John Marshall High School. On July 11, 1964, she married Charles "Chuck" Podolske at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester. She worked as a dental assistant for a short period of time before starting her family. Julie worked in world trade and shipping at IBM for many years. Julie enjoyed camping, bird watching, gardening especially flowers, and going to the family cabin. Friendship was something that was important to her, even keeping in touch with her high school classmates to this day. Spending time with her family was something dear to her heart. Julie was active in card club and was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Rochester. Julie is survived by her husband, Chuck of Rochester; children, Jeff Podolske and Jenna (Al) Sanders both of Rochester; grandchildren, Tia, Konnor, Kamron and Brooklin; father, Arthur Schmidt of Rochester; brothers, Steven (Christy) Schmidt of Mazeppa and Charlie (Candy) Schmidt of Pine Island; and sister, Carolyn Smith of Rochester; many nieces and nephews.
