Joyce Young

Joyce Elaine (Carlson) Young, age 89, of Rochester, Minnesota died peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Samaritan Bethany Home on 8th in Rochester, Minnesota.

Joyce was born May 13, 1935 in McLeod, North Dakota. She married John E. Young on June 6, 1954 and they were blessed with 66 years of marriage.

Joyce attended North Dakota State School of Science, majoring in printing and journalism. She worked many years at several newspapers and printing shops. She also worked for PAIIR (Parents are Important in Rochester) as a teacher and Cardinal as a group home supervisor. They lived in several places in Minnesota and North Dakota before settling in Rochester in 1970. In 1980, they moved to rural Byron where they resided until 2019 when they moved to Fairway Ridge in Rochester.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; sons, John Maurice and Paul Bryan.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra (David) Potter of upper Michigan; son, David Young of North Dakota; two grandchildren, Bryan (Brandy) Potter of Oklahoma and Samantha (Jeremy) Johnson of upper Michigan; three great grandchildren, Gracie Potter, Zayden Potter, and Sierra Johnson.

There will be no service at the request of family.
