Joyce Edna Garmers

Joyce E. Garmers, 89, of Rochester, MN died Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Shorewood Senior Campus. Joyce Edna Matheson was born August 19, 1929 to Robert and Edna (Maass) Matheson in Rochester, MN. In 1947 she graduated from Rochester High School. She married Richard "Dick" Garmers in Rochester on September 21, 1948. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Joyce enjoyed spending time with family, painting, sewing, crocheting, reading and cooking. She also loved to play Cribbage, Texas 10,000 and Hand and Foot. She was a very competitive game player. Joyce is survived by her husband, Dick of Rochester; one son, Richard (Jenny) Garmers of Rochester; two daughters, Sandra (Dennis) Hoffman of Howell, MI and Jill Eidem of Rochester; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, James (Susan) Matheson of Seattle, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and one grandson. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church (222 6th Avenue SW). Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
