Joseph Ernesteven Hain, 89, of Rochester, MN passed away, Sunday, November 30, 2014. Joe was born September 16, 1925 to Carl and Helen (Lawler) Hain at Saint Marys Hospital, Rochester, MN. He graduated from Rochester High School.He married June Alice Eggler on October 27, 1948, and together they operated the Hain family farm and raised 5 children.Joe retired from farming in 1990. Joe was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church, the Olmsted County Farm Bureau and was presented with an Honorary Lifetime Membership in the Minnesota Farm Bureau.As a boy, he was a member of the Haverhill Boosters 4-H Club and later, a coach of the 4-H boys softball team.He was active in the American Dairy Association, a member of the Olmsted County Fair Board and helped to organize the annual Breakfast on the Farm event.After retiring from the farm, he was a driver for Rochester City Delivery and was a school Crossing Guard for the Rochester School District. Joe enjoyed spending time with family, Sunday drives, playing cards, woodworking, reading a good western and giving of himself to others. Joe is survived by his wife of 66 years, June.Daughters: Ellen Gibb, York, PA; Suzanne (Jim) Pries of Byron; Joanne (Robert Arlen) Heathman of Rochester.Sons: Ernie (Janeane) Hain of Chatfield and Benjamin (Kelly) Hain of Rochester.Twelve grandchildren: Abegale, Jason, Robert, Matthew, Steven, J. Scot, Shauna, Jessica, Stephanie, Katelyn, Benjamin Preston, and Amelia and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; Carl, Richard, Raymond and Donald Hain, and one son-in-law, William Gibb. Memorials can be made to the Courtyard Project at Bethel Lutheran Church, Rochester, Minnesota or Donors choice. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester with the Reverend Dr. Norman Wahl officiating.Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes from 4:00 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior the service at the church. Private family burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
