Jon Scott Arnold

Jon Scott Arnold, 86, of Rochester, MN, passed away on February 8, 2024, at Rochester West Health Services in Rochester.

Scott was born on May 3, 1937, in Minneapolis, MN and was adopted from the Owatonna State School Orphanage at 19 months by Walter and Laura (Kalbrenner) Arnold. After graduating from Mankato High School, he attended Mankato State University, earning his B.S., then went on to earn his master's degree in library science from Ball State University in Muncie, IN. Scott taught for 10 years in Pipestone, MN, followed by 25 years in the Rochester Public Schools district. On April 2, 1958, Scott married Colleen Myers, and together they had four children, Lori, Jeff, Joel and Scott.

Some of Scott's hobbies included traveling, reading and sports. In retirement, the couple enjoyed traveling to many different continents including Europe, China, and Australia.

Scott is survived by his wife, Colleen Arnold; his children, Scott Arnold of Rochester, MN, Lori Hoppa, of Rochester, MN, Dr. Jeff (Lura) Arnold, of Grays Lake, IL., and Joel Arnold, of Savage, MN; and grandchildren Dylan, Sanya, Sam, Elle, Jessie, Liu, Paige and Zachary Arnold and Aaron Hoppa. Scott is preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church (1884 22nd Street NW, Rochester, MN 55901). Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.
