John M. Holmes- Pine Island, MN. John M. Holmes, 87, of Pine Island, MN, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and to be reunited with the love of his life, his wife Patricia Anne, on August 11, 2016. John was born in Hastings, MN, to John C. and Marie Holmes on October 3, 1928. He attended schools in Minneapolis. He joined the Navy and started racing stock cars. On August 15, 1950, he married Patricia Hansen in Clear Lake, Iowa. He had several jobs, including Werner Transportation as a truck driver, Borchert Ingersoll starting as a mechanic and was promoted to sales and re- located to Pine Island; CEO of North Star Asphalt; Clementson Trucking in Pine Island. He made many friends through the various jobs he held. In his retirement, he took wonderful care of his wife and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. John and Pat spent many years wintering in Arizona. He enjoyed reading the Bible and had a ministry with distributing his cards to all people he met. He is survived by his three daughters Debra Holmes, Diane (Scott) Lindahl , and Patty (Mark) Newman all of Pine Island; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters- Kay Olson and Pat Shaddrick; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his bride of 65 years, Pat, an infant daughter, and his parents John C. and Marie Holmes. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday August 13, 2016 at Rochester Assembly of God, 4240 18th Avenue NW, Rochester, MN.
