John David Fibison, age 87, of Rochester, MN passed away on April 29, 2024 at Cottagewood Senior Community in Rochester, MN.
John David Fibison was born March 24, 1937 in Takoma Park, Maryland the son of John and Martha (Zian) Fibison. He graduated from Johnson High School in St. Paul, MN and attended the University of Minnesota. David enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served as a radio technician until his honorable discharge. He then attended Northwest Electronic School in St. Paul and taught for a short time. David was united in marriage to Marilyn Folea on May 15, 1963 at the Saint Mary Romanian Orthodox Church in St. Paul. They were blessed with two children, John and Michael, and 60 years of marriage. David worked for IBM beginning his career in Minneapolis then Rochester until his retirement.
David was an active member of Holy Anargyroi Sts Kosmas and Damianos Orthodox Church where he served as treasurer and on the parish council and a member of the Stewartville Masonic Lodge. He played saxophone and clarinet for the Chatfield Community Band, and following his retirement he was a math tutor.
David is survived by his wife Marilyn Fibison of Rochester, MN; two sons, John (Jennifer) Fibison of Rochester, MN and Michael (Diana) Fibison of New Jersey; three grandchildren, Allison and Andrew Fibison and Nicholas Fibison; his brother, George (Joanne) Fibison of Stillwater, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha, and sister, Marie Hunt.
Visitation will be held 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, May 6, 2024 followed by a Trisagion prayer service at 7:00 PM at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Holy Anargyroi Saints Kosmas and Damianos Orthodox Church 703 West Center St. Rochester, MN with Reverend Nicholas Hubbard and Reverend Mircea Vasiu of Saint Mary Romanian Orthodox Church, St. Paul officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Rochester, MN.
