John F. Hennessey

John F. Hennessey passed away on August 26, 2015 at Meadow Lakes Assisted Living.He was born on July 29, 1926 in Flint, MI to William and Winifred (Fonda) Hennessey. John graduated from Harding High School in St. Paul, MN and attended Technical School for Radio and TV.He moved to Rochester in 1948 where he worked as a Broadcast Engineer for KROC and KLER.He later worked for IBM for 29 years, retiring in 1986 as a programmer.John served in the United States Army Air Force from 1943-1946 and married Julia Busch on May 14, 1948 in St. Paul, MN.She preceded him in death April 29, 1996. John was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.He enjoyed golfing and fishing and was a member of the IBM Retirees Club and the Golden Kiwanis. Survivors include three sons, Andrew (Vickie) and Corey (Debra) Hennessey, both of Rochester, MN and Dr. Todd (Vicky) Hennessey of Buffalo, NY; six grandchildren, Andrew (Kelly) Hennessey Jr., Christopher (Jessica) Hennessey, Erin (Spencer) Shimko, Faith (Wyatt) Apel, David Hennessey and Patrick Hennessey; seven great grandchildren and a special friend, Patricia Olsen of Rochester, MN. The family would like to thank the staff at Meadow Lakes Senior Living, Comfort Health and St. Croix Hospice for their care and support. Visitation will be on Monday, August 31, 2015 from 5:00 7:00 pm at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes.There will be private family graveside services at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
