John Arnold Webster

ROCHESTER - John A. Webster, 93, died on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Samaritan Bethany Assisted Living in Rochester. John was born in Oronoco Township on August 24, 1917 to Frank and Laura Beth (Robinson) Webster. He attended Rochester High School for one year. John served as a U.S. Navy Seabee during WWII in the Pacific and then lived in Chicago from 1946 to 1981. John married Olive Moen on July 5, 1946 in Rochester. He worked 45 years as an equipment operator. Upon retirement in 1981, John and Olive moved back to Oronoco and then moved to Rochester in 1993. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oronoco, the Oronoco VFW, and the Local #150 (Operating Engineers Union). John enjoyed traveling and gardening. John is survived by two children, Rosemary (Ronnie) Stellhorn, of Freeburg, IL, and Robert (Jean) Webster, of Kailua, Oahu, HI; three grandchildren, Elizabeth (George) Koval, of Ballwin, MO, Olivia Webster, of Santa Monica, CA, and Robert Webster, of New York City; a step-grandchild Kevin Peralta, of Kailua, Oahu, HI; one great grandchild, Lucas Koval; and a special friend, Shirley Hahn.John is preceded in death by his wife, Olive; his parents; a brother, Gerald, and a sister, Mary Alice.A memorial service will be held in the spring.
