Joanne Dalin

Joanne Yvonne Dalin née Landers, 88, passed away in Rochester, MN on Tuesday, March 3, 2025. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John A. Dalin, her two children, John S. Dalin (Debra Dalin) and Sandra Aaby, and her grandchild, Alexis Aaby. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eleanore and Wallace, and her sister, Marlene.

Joanne was born on February 8, 1937, in Winona, Minnesota, and has spent her whole life as a proud Minnesotan. She and her two sisters, Marlene and Sandra, were cared for by her aunt and uncle, Henrietta and Ernest, after their mother passed away in 1948. After graduating from Winona Senior High School, she attended St. Olaf College, where she graduated in 1959 with a B.A. in both Spanish and Hispanic Studies. She then began her teaching career. She and John met while teaching in Circle Pines, and they started their family there before moving to Willmar. Joanne worked for many years in public education at Centennial High School, Willmar Public Schools, and Willmar Vocational-Technical College.

Joanne and John moved to Rochester in 2000 after the birth of their grandchild and have resided here since. As an active member of Vinje Lutheran Church of Willmar and Zumbro Lutheran Church of Rochester, Joanne attended services and volunteered as often as she was able. She loved helping serve coffee on Sunday mornings and spending time with her circle group. She also loved baking, designing houses, playing cards and spending time with her family, friends, and loved ones.

Joanne made a career and a life of helping others, and she always put others needs before her own. She was a strong, independent, and compassionate individual, and she raised her children to be the same.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Zumbro Lutheran Church, 624 3rd Ave. SW, Rochester, MN. Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN, as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.
