Joann Marlyn Oots

Joann M. Oots, 87 of Rochester, MN passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at her residence. Joann Marilynn Warfield, was born to Kenneth and Josephine (Peterson) Warfield on May 9, 1929 in Austin, MN. Joann graduated from Austin High School in 1947. She married Carlton Hanson on July 1947, they later divorced. Joann married Henry Oots on December 1, 1956. The couple then moved to Rochester. She worked for Brink-Solberg Painting Contractors and Olmsted Medical Center retiring in February 1989. Henry and Joann spent summers at their cabin in Northern Minnesota and wintered in Mesa, Arizona. While wintering down South, Joann sang with the Mesa Regalaires. Joann loved singing, she also sang with the Rochester Sweet Adelines for many years. Joann loved people and her mindset was the more the merrier. She enjoyed entertaining, spending time with friends and family. And oh, how she loved to laugh! Its a laugh we will always remember. Joann is survived by her husband, Henry of Rochester; two daughters, Vicki (Randy) Christenson of Rochester and Carla (Mark) Olson of Lago Vista, TX; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen Judy (Arthur) Goembel of Austin, MN and a brother, Duane (Judy) Warfield of Rochester. She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Hanson. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes.
