ROCHESTER - Jennie Louis Pruett, 93, died peacefully at her home on Monday, January 13, 2014. Jennie was born in South Troy, MN on February 26, 1920 to Nathaniel and Jesse (Cooke) Roseboom. She attended country school at The Little Red School House now located on Hwy 63 North, often riding her horse or skiing to and from school. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1939. On October 29, 1943 Jennie married Albert Pruett in San Diego, CA. They celebrated 66 years of marriage before Als passing in 2010.She worked for the Kahler Hotel for 45 years and Albert worked for the Rochester School District for 23 years.She enjoyed sharing stories of all the famous guests she had met throughout her career.In her free time, she enjoyed eating sweets (especially pie!), embroidering, cross stitching, puzzles, reading, watching Wheel of Fortune and Johnny Carson, and sending greeting cards. There was not a Birthday, Anniversary, or any other occasion that went by without receiving a card from Grandma Pruett. Jennie was a dedicated, passionate and longtime member of Calvary Baptist church.God gifted her with the love of Christ that was expressed throughout her lifetime. She was a talented baker, and spent many hours baking for her family, friends, and all the people in her neighborhood. She was best known for her Tomato soup cake and her California cookies, which put smiles on the faces of everyone that tasted them. The nurturer of the family, Jennie was kind, compassionate and cared deeply for all of the people in her life.There was not a scratch, bruise, or broken heart that she could not mend. She will be dearly missed, but her legacy endures. Jennie will be remembered by her three loving sons; Steven Pruett ofRochester, Norman Pruett ofRochester, and Michael (Dawn) Pruett ofRochester; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey Pruett ofRochester, Jonathan (Cristina) Pruett ofSt. Paul, Jason (Gretchen) Pruett ofBrooklyn Park, Christine (Marvin) Benson of Chatfield, Michelle Pruett ofRochester, Jessica (Jeb) Pruett-Taylor ofRaeford, NC, and Justin Pruett ofRochester; nine great grandchildren, Hannah and Sophia Pruett ofSt. Paul, Arthur, Wesley and Genevieve Pruett ofMinneapolis, Crystal (Adam) Landherr of Stewartville, Nathan (Meghan) French ofRochester, Alyssa Pruett ofRochester, and Olive Grace Taylor ofRaeford, NC;two great-great grandchildren, Peyton French ofRochester, and Mason Landherr ofStewartville. Jennie is preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her parents; and brother, Kenneth Roseboom. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church, 5905 Silas Dent Rd. NW with Rev. Dwight LaPine officiating.Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church.Interment will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Calvary Baptist Church.
