Jeffry Olson

Jeffry John Olson, 62, of Rochester, passed away unexpectedly on the evening of Saturday, April 20, 2019 after suffering a heart attack at his home. Jeff was born on October 9, 1956 in Rochester, MN to John F. and Ellen J. (Haight) Olson. He graduated from Mayo High School in 1975 and was a life-long resident of Rochester. As a young child, Jeff was an avid golfer and at the age of 11, he was featured in the local newspaper showcasing his verified score of 72 at the Rochester Golf & Country Club. Jeff was a big sports enthusiast, loving all types of sports. He was also an excellent gardener who could grow anything - both indoor and outside. He always had a love for animals and adored all of his pet cats and dogs. Jeff was employed at Automotive Procare in Rochester where he was a trusted service manager at the time of his death. He was devoted to his wife, Lynn Olson, for 24 years and had a special relationship with his grandson Rio Montanez, teaching him the art of fishing, gardening, electric trains, and his special burgers. Jeff's parent's John and Ellen Olson-Funk preceded him in death. Those who will be missing him include his wife of 24 years Lynn Olson of Rochester, step-daughter Misty Montanez and grandson Rio of Burnsville, MN; his 4 siblings: Jane (David) Amdahl of Osakis, MN, Jerry (Jodi) Olson of Pine Island, MN, Julie (Mark) Farmakes George of Minneapolis, MN, and Janis (Paul) Evers of Rochester, MN., and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Lynn Olson. The memorial service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
