Jeffrey W Knopf of Rochester was called home to Eternal Rest in Heaven on his 37th birthday, Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Hospital - St Mary's Campus, in Rochester. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday April 25th at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 4520 19th Avenue NW, Rochester. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday April 24th at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes in Rochester and one hour prior to the service at church. Jeffrey was born on April 19, 1981 to William and Sandra (Stundahl) Knopf. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 2000. Jeffrey continued his education at Rochester Community and Technical College, Winona State University, and Chicago's Roosevelt University where he graduated with a history degree in 2008. In 2004 he married Angela née Tomfohrde. They resided in Westmont IL. Jeffrey worked at the DuPage County Children's Museum and at the Robert McCormick house in DuPage County. In 2012 the family returned to Rochester where he worked for ARSYS, LLC and ABC, Inc as direct support staff. Jeffrey is survived by his children, William Aaron (10) and Lillian Marie (8) Knopf of Rochester and their mother, his beloved friend Angela; his parents William and Sandra of Rochester, his sister Melissa of St Paul; Godparents, Charles and Elaine Knopf and Larry and Tammy Slowinski; many aunts, uncles, cousins; his in-laws, Randy and Becky Tomfohrde; and a host of friends from work, church, and school. Jeffrey was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; three uncles, one aunt, and four cousins. Jeff enjoyed playing chess, exploring all kinds of history, relaxing with the family, and thought provoking conversations. He was well-liked by all who knew him. He particularly enjoyed opportunities to help others. The family thanks Mayo Clinic and Hospital and Emergency staff, nephrology staff at the Mayo NE Dialysis Clinic, and all persons who gave Jeffrey such excellent and loving care throughout his illness. It would have pleased Jeff to know that memorials were sent to the National Kidney Foundation, The Gift of Life Transplant House, or The Ronald McDonald House in his honor.
