Jeanne Grant

Jeanne E. Grant, 64, of Rochester, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, at her home, after a 7-month battle with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) otherwise known as Lou Gerig's disease.

Jeanne was born on July 9, 1960, in Detroit, MI to Richard and Patricia Grant. She earned her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and graduate degree from University of Washington - Seattle. Over her 40-year career as a Registered Dietitian, she worked at University of Washington Medical Center and, for the past 27 years, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Mary's Campus. From May 2001 to December 2020, she served as Program Director for Mayo Clinic Rochester Dietetic Internship.

Jeanne's loves included cycling, hiking, baking/cooking, William Shakespeare, listening to Minnesota Public Radio, reading NY Times, and watching PBS shows. However, she most enjoyed her time with family and friends. Thanks for all the love and support everyone has shown her throughout her life and during her journey with ALS.

Jeanne is survived by her mother Patricia Grant of Middleton, WI; sisters Mary Jane Grant of Middleton, WI and Chrisanne (Gregory) Urban of Rochester, MN; nieces Charlotte Urban of La Crosse, WI and Julia Urban of Denver, CO and nephew Grant Urban of Burnsville, MN. She was preceded by her father, Richard Grant and niece Katherine Urban.

Please honor Jeanne's wishes by wearing bright colors to her funeral. A special heartfelt thanks to all the staff, especially Kate, of Season's Hospice and Jayne from Stephen's Ministry, who helped all of us with her journey.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (5455 50th Ave. NW, Rochester). A visitation will be from 4:30pm until 6:30pm on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home (5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester) as well as one hour prior to the service at Holy Spirit.
