Rochester, Minn. - The funeral service for Jeanette R. Rittenhouse will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 21, 2010 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes' Chapel with Chaplain Carol Shaffer of Seasons Hospice. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.Mrs. Rittenhouse, 91, of Rochester, died Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Samaritan Bethany Home on Eighth.Jeanette Ruth Sleeper was born September 14, 1918, on the farm north of Rochester where she grew up. She attended rural schools through eighth grade. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1935 and from Wisconsin Business University in La Crosse, WI, in 1937. She worked as a bookkeeper in Rochester from 1938 to 1942 at the former Baihly & Rommel Meat and Grocery Market. She then joined the Mayo Clinic as a registrar in the registration department until 1946. On June 18, 1946, she married Robert Rittenhouse, after he finished his tour in the U.S. Army. They lived in Rochester all of their married lives. She stayed home to raise her family and re-entered employment at the Clinic in 1958. She became assistant supervisor of the registration department in 1969 and worked there until she retired in 1980, after 26 years of Clinic service. She loved to cook, read and spend time with her family. She has been a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rochester.Survivors include a daughter, Mindy (Roger) Greiling of Roseville; grandchildren, Angela (Matt) Greiling Keane of Washington, D.C., Jim Greiling of Roseville, Chad (Jessie) Lind and Matt (Brandi) Lind, both of Rochester; great granddaughter, Taylor Keane, great grandson, Colton Lind; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1995; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Mike Lind; her parents; a sister, Lois; a brother, Eugene; and two infant brothers.Memorials preferred to First Presbyterian Chuch in Rochester.Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN 55901 (507) 289-3600www.ranfranzandvinefh.com
