Jean Marie Kress

Jean M. Kress, 97, died peacefully at Madonna Towers Skilled Care in Rochester, MN on Monday, October 1, 2018. She was born September 24, 1921 in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Edward and Louise (Tropf) Pins. She married Arthur Kress on August 6, 1942, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dubuque, Iowa. Art passed away June 22, 1994. Jean lived in Dubuque most of her life. She attended St. Mary's grade school and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy for Girls. She belonged to St. Mary's Rosary Society and St. Joseph Alumni. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and was a friend to many. She worked at Prescott School with the hot lunch program for 17 years. She also volunteered at the St. Mary's bingo and hot lunch programs. Jean enjoyed working in the yard, tending to her flower garden and going on long walks. She looked forward to playing cards, (Euchre and 500), with her friends and going on picnics at Eagle Point Park with them. Surviving are daughters, Judy Kane of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Linda (Mark) Noble of Rochester, Minnesota. Grandchildren are Steven (Robin) Kane, of Cedar Rapids, Mark (Stephanie) Kane of Florida; great-grandchildren, Natalie (Matt) Tunnicliffe, Jeremy Kane, Kamberly Kane, Shayla Kane and Keara Kane. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, David Kane and sister-in-law, Ruth Weitz. The family would like to thank the GREAT staff at Madonna Living Community for the loving care that they provided her. We have lost someone very special. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2018 at Madonna Towers Living Community Chapel (4001 19th Avenue NW Rochester, MN).
