JUDD Janice Ellen Judd, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at St. Marys Hospital surrounded by loved ones. Janice Ellen Nelson was born on July 17, 1929, in Isle, MN to Sander G and Jeanette L (Williams) Nelson.She grew up in nearby McGrath where she and her sister Louise learned how to make lefsa, Lutefisk, and krumkake from mother; and helped dad with duties at the corner filling station.In 1944, the family relocated to Rochester, and Janice graduated from Rochester High School in 1947.She worked at Macs Restaurant and continued on with college-level classes, after which, she went to work for the Mayo Clinic in an administrative role.She worked for Mayo Clinic until it was time to have children.Janice loved to garden and had many beds of beautiful flowers.She was also an excellent seamstress, making many of her own clothes.On January 7, 1950, Janice married Lewis D Judd at the Methodist church in Rochester.She was very active in the United Methodist Women at Christ United Methodist Church, and in her craft club with friends, neighbors, and relatives where they shared knitting and art projects.Janice rejoined the workforce in 1968, in the audio-visual department at Central Junior High School.She later transferred to the library at Kellogg Junior High.She worked for the Rochester school district until retirement in 1984, and then as a substitute for ten years.Janice and Lewis wintered in the southern United States in retirement, mostly Phoenix Arizona, for fifteen years.On those snow-bird trips, they made wonderful memories together on trap-shooting excursions, as well as visiting friends and relatives.After Janice had grand-children, one of her fondest memories was having them visit and make cookies together. Janice is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Lewis; sons, Bruce (Lori Lampi) of Round Lake, IL, Jeff (Sonja Elford) of Oronoco; grandchildren, Lindsey (Josh) Weber of Gilbert, AZ, Brianna Judd of Woodbury, and Andrea Judd of Cannon Falls; great-granddaughters, Brooklyn and Katelyn Weber; and sister, Louise Armitage of Edina.She was preceded in death by her parents, Sander and Jeanette. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 5, 2016 at Christ United Methodist Church, 400 5th Ave. SW, Rochester.Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church.The Rev.
