Janet M. Meyer

ROCHESTER -Janet M. Meyer, 69, died on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester with her family by her side. Janet was born in LeRoy, MN on November 17, 1942 to Irving and Beatrice (Jerred) Applen.She married Lyle Meyer on September 9, 1961 in Wykoff, MN.Janet lived most of her life in Rochester and worked for the phone company for 33 years.She spent an additional 17 great years of her retirement with Lyle.Janet was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.She had a great sense of humor, enjoyed reading, and especially loved her grandchildren. Janet is survived by her husband of 50 years, Lyle; three children, Brian Meyer, of Rochester, Brenda Simon, of Pine Island, and Bruce (Stephanie) Meyer, of Oronoco; her mother, Beatrice; seven grandchildren, Michael Meyer, Brittany Meyer, Brendan Meyer, Nathan Simon, Torri Simon, Logan Simon, and Hudson Meyer; and six siblings, Kay (Dave) Sunde, of Preston, MN, Lynn (Carol) Applen, of Albuquerque, NM, Linda (Jerry) Johnson, of Lime Springs, IA, Craig (Mary) Applen, of Rochester, Neil (Karen) Applen, of Rochester, and Randy Applen, of Rochester. Janet is preceded in death by her father, Irving and a brother, James. Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home.A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Charles Ortloff and Rev. Katharine Burbo officiating.A private family burial will take place at a later date at Spring Valley Cemetery.
