James Mike Paulios, 89, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2015 at Samaritan Bethany. Mike was born on November 28, 1925 in Rochester, Minnesota to Theodore and Effie (Hicks) Paulios. He grew up in Rochester and graduated from Rochester High School in 1944. Following graduation, Mike served in the US Army Infantry from 1944 to 1946.He served seventeen months in the European Theatre of Operations and was awarded two Bronze Service Stars for the Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. On September 2, 1947 he married the love of his life, Mary Georgia Robinson, at Calvary Episcopal Church in Rochester.They made their home in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area while Mike attended the Dunwoody Institute to study Architectural Drafting. After he completed his studies Mike and Mary made their home in Pipestone, MN and West Salem, WI, before returning to Rochester in 1964.Mike worked for the Kruse Company in Rochester as the Manager of the Construction and Remodeling Division until his retirement. After his retirement he continued to work remodeling homes with his son, Dan. In his free time he volunteered at Mayo Clinic and joined the Rochester Woodcarvers Club. He enjoyed traveling and spending time at the family cabin in northern Wisconsin. Mike was a special man who showed great devotion to Mary who suffered fromAlzheimers disease for many years. Mike is survived by his daughter, Pamela (Robert) May; sons, Theodore (Jeanne) and Daniel Paulios, all of Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Andy (Amy) Paulios, Jason (Kristin Lee) Paulios, Christopher May and Amy May; great grandchildren, Maggie and Ty Paulios and a nephew, Howard Riess. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one sister, Mary Zotalis. A memorial service will held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 22, 2015 at Calvary Episcopal Church, 3rd Avenue and 2nd Street SW in Rochester, with the Reverend Nick Mezacappa officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. A private family burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery with the Reverend James Zotalis officiating. Memorials are suggested to Samaritan Bethany Foundation, Calvary Episcopal Church or Mayo Clinic for Alzheimers Disease Research.
