WINONA, MINN:James F. Madden (Jim), 99, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 2, 2015. James Fenimore Madden was born May 24, 1916 to James F. and Zelma (Eisner) Madden in San Francisco, CA. James graduated from high school and worked for a paper company in Los Angeles, CA during the depression. He served as a Captain in the Army during WWII. Jim married Clare M. Clements on September 5, 1941.They later divorced. He moved to Rochester, MN in 1952 and became owner/dealer of Clement's Chevrolet and Cadillac until his retirement in 1984.He was a charter member of the Rochester Chamber Ambassadors, SCORE and many other civic organizations. Jim was an avid sports fan and loved playing golf, tennis and racquet ball. He spent much of his time in Palm Desert, CA and later moved to Winona, MN. Jim loved the outdoors and his gardens. Jim is survived by his children, Molly Genz, St. Paul, MN, Jill (Jerry) Bridwell, Rochester, MN/Scottsdale, AZ, Greg (Glendee) Madden, Redondo Beach, CA, and Beth (Larry) Lindholm, Winona, MN; 10 grandchildren, Steven, Andy and Ted Genz, Ana Genz Wall, Chris Grassle, Scott and Heather Madden, Nick and Dan Lindholm and Jenny Lindholm Steer; 6 great grandchildren; and his dog Princess. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Betty Gallagher, and a grandson David Grassle. Jim was a wonderful person and will be truly missed. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2015 at Saint John The Evangelist Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rochester, MN.
