Jagmohan Vasdev

Jagmohan Singh Vasdev, aged 85, passed away peacefully Sunday August 12th, 2018 at his home. Jagmohan was born in Parachinar, Pakistan on March 11, 1933 to Sant Singh and Harnam Kaur Vasdev. After emigrating from Pakistan during the 1947 Indian-Pakistan Partition, he earned his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Punjab University in 1955. Shortly after he moved to Nairobi, Kenya to work as a school teacher. In 1958, he met his wife Jagmohan Kaur Vasdev and together they raised two sons. While in Kenya, Jagmohan Singh worked as a teacher, engineer, and manager for the family's restaurant "Liberty Corner". Jagmohan and his family left Kenya for England in 1974. While in England, he continued to work as a mechanical engineer for several companies including Johnson Wax, Jacobs Pharmaceuticals, Baxter, and Eslon Plastics. His work as a validation mechanical engineer took him across the globe to locations such as Japan, Philippines, Uganda, United States, Puerto Rico, Ireland, India. In 1978, he moved to Heights Town, New Jersey and traveled to California, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Georgia before finally settling in Rochester, MN in 2005 to be closer to his family. He continued working for Jacobs before retiring in 2010. Jagmohan loved to be in the company of his children and grandchildren and was eager to share wise words to those that would listen. His hobbies included watching Westerns, listening to religious hymns, and managing his stock portfolio. He is survived by his wife of 61 years; Jagmohan Kaur, his two sons; Surinder and Gurinder, his daughter in-laws; Sunita and Billie, and his six grandchildren; Meher, Samhir, Pavan, Amrit, Ranveer, and Tanveer. Visitation and Antim Ardas will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes.
