Jacob J. Sanders

Jacob J. Sanders, 90, of Rochester passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at his home. Jacob was born December 26, 1924 in Connelsville, MO to Lemuel and Edna (Gray) Sanders. He was a 1942 graduate of Kirksville Missouri High School and a 1950 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. On August 23, 1946, Jacob married Bertha Billington at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Atchison, KS. Jacob was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII. He worked at IBM as an electrical engineer and was also part of the SAGE Air Defense System. On December 31, 1991, Jacob retired from IBM after 41 years of service. He was a member of the Golden Kiwanis. Jacob is survived by his sons, Michael of Albertville, MN, Richard ( Beverly) of Rochester and Douglas of Rochester; 5 grandchildren, Brian (Sherry) Sanders, Victoria (Michael) Rietz, Daniel Sanders, Gregory (Karen) Sanders, David (Adrianne) Sanders; 10 great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Sanders, Christopher, Domonique and Alixx Hengl, Emma and Isaac Rietz and Ryan, Kyle, Peter and Lewis Sanders and sister-in-law, Amy Sanders of Sherwood, AR. Jacob was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bertha; brother, Reo and his parents, Lemuel and Edna.
