Jack (John) P. Lampman, celebrated local figurehead of Rochester Youth Hockey, died March 1st at his home in Rochester, MN at the age of 91. Mr. Lampman, who lived at Shorewood Senior Community, was born February 26, 1925 and was a lifelong resident of Rochester. He graduated Rochester High School in 1943, and was co-captain of both the football and baseball teams. He married Ann Cathryn Canney on December 1, 1945. He was a Northwest Airlines ticket agent for 17 years. He retired from IBM in 1987 after 27 years of service. He was President of Gramercy Senior Living Cooperative for 13 years, received the Rochester Book of Golden Deeds for his dedication to the community, and volunteered for the Rochester Senior Center for over 30 years. Mr. Lampman is best known for his lifelong commitment to Rochester Youth Hockey, of which he was a member (and past president) for over 65 years. In recognition of these contributions, he was inducted to Rochester Quarterbacks Club Hall of Fame in 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents Phillip and Gelina Lampman; his brother, William Lampman; and his wife Ann Cathryn. He is survived by his sister, (Sis) Venetia (Richard) Christopherson, Rochester, MN; his four children, Steve (Liz Schendel) Lampman, Ely MN; Margo Anneke (Randy Page) Boise, Idaho; Todd Lampman, Rochester, MN; Mary Jo (Jim) Westra, Byron, MN; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. A very special thank you to Mrs. Laurie Vlasak, of the Mayo Clinic Palliative Care Program and all the nurses at Spectrum Community Health Homecare Program. He truly appreciated your friendship and care. Memorial arrangements are scheduled on Friday, March 11 from 4-7pm (for family condolences) at Ranfranz Funeral Home. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, March 12 at 11:00am at Pax Christi Catholic Church, with another family condolence time one hour before the service. To further the advancement of medical education, Jack has entrusted his body to the Mayo Foundation. Burial will be at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery.
