Irene G. Blomberg, 93, of Rochester, died Thursday, November 3, 2011 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Irene Gladys Steberg was born April 23, 1918 in Wanamingo, MN to Alfred and Regina (Greseth) Steberg.Irene married James R. Blomberg in the late 1940's.He passed away on February 27, 1979.She moved to Rochester in the early 1980's from Minneapolis.She worked as a dietary aide at Samaritan Bethany Heights and was also a foster grandparent forMN Senior Corps Association. Irene was very patriotic and a member and past president of the James Ballentine VFW #246, Minneapolis Auxilary.Irene was also a member of the Rochester American Legion Post #92 and Peace United Church of Christ in Rochester. Irene is survived by a son, Dennis Lindquist of Hayfield, MN; a daughter, Sharon Blomberg of Rochester; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Blomberg of Rochester; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one brother, Manton Steberg of Cannon Falls, MN.She was preceded in death by her husband; one son; one daughter; one granddaughter; one great grandson; one great granddaughter; five brothers; and five sisters. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes' Chapel with the Reverend Paul Bauch officiating.A visitation will be from 6:00 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2011 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Any memorials received by the family will be given to Irene's favorite charities.Irene wishes everyone to say thank you to a veteran.
