ROCHESTER The funeral service for Irene E. Miller will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Zumbro Lutheran Church, 624 3rd Avenue S.W, in Rochester with the Rev. Vern Christopherson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery. Irene was born May 8, 1922, in Dalton, Minnesota to Alvin and Mabel Stavaas. Irene graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1940.She married Vernon Miller at Ten Mile Lake Lutheran Church on June 22, 1941.The couple lived, farmed and worked in the Fergus Falls area until 1960, when they moved to Rochester.Irene worked at Daytons until her retirement.She was an active member of Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester.She enjoyed playing dominos, wintering in Texas, making lefse, spending time with her family and was a founding member of the Roc-8s Square Dance Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, in 2010, brother Orvin of Fergus Falls, sister Alvina of Longview, Washington and children Judy Gentling, Barbara Miller and Ronald Miller. Irene is survived by three sons, Bruce (Cheryl) Miller of Rochester, Greg (Beverly) Miller of Spokane, Washington, Terry (Nancy) Miller of Rochester and son-in-law Kirk (Barb) Gentling of Rochester.She will be missed by her eight grandchildren;Jason and Nicholas Gentling, Tamara Weispfenning, Adam, Joe, Krista, Jon and Alyssa Miller; and her nine great-grandchildren; April, Cadence, Paige, Kirk, Blaine, Kennedy, Ethan, Cody & Lauren; and a sister, Beverly (Jerry) Thompson of Fergus Falls, MN. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Memorials are preferred to Zumbro Lutheran Church Radio Broadcast in Rochester.
