BYRON -Irene Alice Bolles, 95, died on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield. Irene was born in Fillmore County on October 28, 1916 to George and Helen (Bennett) Markham.She was a 1934 graduate of Chatfield High School.Irene married Philip DeWitt in 1935 and they later divorced.In July 1949, she and David Bolles were married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.Irene worked at S & M Supply Co. as an Automotive Clerk for five years.After attending several courses of tailoring at the Rochester Evening College, in 1967 she worked as a tailor at Streitmatters Mens Wear until the Miracle Mile fire in 1971.She then worked at St. Paul Clothiers until her retirement.After retirement, she and David made and donated quilts to the Hope Lodge and Ronald McDonald Home as a mission to the Cancer Society.She was a Sunday School Teacher at East St. Olaf for 8 years and Financial Secretary for 11 years.Irene enjoyed embroidery, cross stitching, and quilting.Many lives were touched by her hard work and quilts. Irene is survived by four sons, Robert (Betty) DeWitt, of Spring Valley, MN, Lyle (Rose) DeWitt, of Makana, IL, Marvin (Christine) DeWitt, of Kamrar, IA, and Curtis (Linda) Bolles, of Byron, MN; three daughters, Nadine (Gene) Ulring, of Sioux Falls, SD, Karen (Roger) Rollie, of Round Rock, TX, and Sonja (Greg) Ersland, of Kasson, MN; one step son, George (Sandra) Bolles, of Byron, MN; two sisters, Edith Bowe, of Chatfield, MN and Marjorie Wood, of Rochester, MN; 19 grandchildren, four step grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren. Irene is preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents; and a brother, Gordon. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at South Zumbro Lutheran Church, 4830 120th Ave. SW, Kasson with Rev. Mark Schwartz officiating.Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Monday, August 13, 2012 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home and an hour prior to the service at the church.Interment will take place at East St. Olaf Cemetery.
