Iola A. Briske

Mrs. Iola Briske, 93, of Rochester passed away early on August 20, 2017, at Samaritan Bethany on 8th, where she lived for four months. She also lived at River Bend Assisted Living in Rochester for sixteen months. Iola lived in her home in Rochester until she was 91 years old. The memorial service will be at 3:00 pm on Friday, August 25, 2017, at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes with Reverend Jan Wiersma officiating. Family and friends may visit from 2:30-3:00 pm at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview. Iola Arlene Haessig Ole was born on April 11, 1924, in rural Woodland, Wabasha county, Minnesota to Clarence and Mary (Long) Haessig. She attended country schools in the Plainview area. In her younger days, Iola worked at Timms Caf and Moms Caf in Plainview. She moved to Rochester and worked at Hagehemimers Restaurant. On September 3, 1943, she married La Vern Briske at the Potsdam church. She worked at Woolworths in the bakery making pies. She then worked at the Methodist Hospital in the kitchen until retiring in 1986. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to Treasure Island to play the slots. She was very proud of her ferns that took up about half of her back yard. She also enjoyed her beautiful poppies and morning glories growing on her fence. She also loved to go for car rides. Iola is survived by her son Gary Briske (Nancy) of Hudson, WI.; daughter, LaVonne Glidden (Warren) of St. Louis Park, MN.; and daughter Anita Goetz (John) of Rochester. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Debbie Briske, Heather Briske, Scott Glidden (Audra) and Stacy Mikkelson Dolan (Ryan). She is also survived by six great-grandchildren Peter, Logan, Ian, and Micaela, Amanda Glidden, and River Fallon Dolan. She is survived by a sister Verna Grover (Donald) of Taylor Falls, MN. and her true friend Lee Pierce of Rochester. Iola was preceded in death by her husband; one grandchild; two brothers and two sisters.
