Horst Koerner, 80 passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Golden Living East in Rochester. Horst was born August 20, 1934 in Bochum, Germany to Paul and Berta (Most) Koerner. Horst married Anneliese Langels on January 12, 1953. They immigrated to Rochester in 1959. Horst worked as a cook for Mayo Clinic from 1971 until his retirement in August 1996. He was a member of The Church of Saint John the Evangelist. Horst is survived by his wife of 61 years; children, Hans (Bonnie) of Sussex, WI, Werner (Nancy) of Minocqua, WI, Herbert of Rochester, Angie (Terry) Baker of Arvada, CO, Karl of Rochester, Mary (Tim) Hutchinson of Westminster, CO and Monica of Rochester; 10 grandchildren, Chris Koerner, Phillip Koerner, Cody and Danielle Baker, Andrew and Matthew Hutchinson, Kyle, Joseph and Hannah Koerner; 2 great-grandchildren, Joshua Koerner and Kaden Petty; sister, Hilda (Anton) Bivainis of Rochester; brother, Werner (Gertrude) of Willich, Germany; his little buddy, Prince, and a host of other family and friends. Horst was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Berta; two brothers, Paul and Karl and sister, Edith. A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, August 22, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist, 11 4th Ave. SW, Rochester with Father John Lasuba as celebrant. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until the time of the service. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
