Phan, Bá Hòa was born on December 15th, 1930, in Hue City, Vietnam and passed away peacefully on January 8th, 2025, in Rochester, Minnesota, at the age of 94. Married to Thuần Thị Nguyễn in 1962, they were a loving couple who built a life revolving around love, laughter, devotion, and happiness for their seven children.

In 1952, Phan enlisted at the Thu Duc Military Academy of South Vietnam, where he diligently learned, practiced, and trained. His meticulous efforts would not go unrecognized as he was eventually promoted to his final position of being a Colonel, Chief of Staff of the 1st Corps of the South Vietnamese military.

During the span of Phan's military service, he was awarded with countless medals, including the one "Silver Star" medal, two "Bronze Stars with V Device" medals, one "Bronze Star" medal, and one "Army Commendation Medal with V Device" medal from the United States of America. Known as a well-respected member in the Vietnamese community, his hard work, leadership, charisma, and dedication to the support of the South Vietnamese military has garnered the admiration and trust of many Vietnamese people. Furthermore, in the 70s, he served as the Governor of the Quảng Trị province.

After many years of courageous work, Phan and his family decided to move to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1991, to start a new life as refugees. Despite the difficult times, he always had an unwavering positivity that would lift the spirits of everyone around him. He even had a passion for traveling as he loved going to California and other states to visit his family and friends.

Phan was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, wife, and son, Phan, Bá Đức. Nevertheless, his legacy is preserved by his beloved seven children, six in-laws, twelve grandchildren, relatives, and friends. Phan will always be remembered as an affectionate and compassionate husband, father, and grandfather who has spread profound warmth and kindness to those around him. Even though he has faced many obstacles throughout his life, his persistence and bravery have touched the hearts and ignited the spirits of many people. He has served as a beacon of life, radiating positivity, joy, and hope to everyone. Phan was the motivation, comfort, and support, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Phan Bá Hòa

Ông Phan Bá Hòa sinh ngày 15 tháng 12, năm 1930 tại làng Thanh Lương, Tổng Hương Cần, Huyện Hương Trà, Tỉnh Thừa Thiên. Ông Hòa lập gia đình với bà Nguyễn thị Thuần năm 1962 cho tới khi bà qua đời năm 1991.

Ông Phan Bá Hòa nhập ngủ ngày 16/9/1952. Xuất thân trường sĩ quan Thủ Đức khóa 2. Phụng sự tốt nghiệp Thiếu úy.

Chức vụ cuối cùng vào tháng 4, 1975 là Đại Tá tham mưu trưởng Quân Đoàn I/ Quân khu I.

Ông đã được truy tặng rất nhiều huy chương từ quân đội Việt Nam Cộng Hòa. Ngoài ra ông cũng được truy tặng rất nhiều huy chương từ phía quân đội Hoa Kỳ

Services will be held 9:00 am to 10:30 am Friday, January 17, 2025 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester, MN. Burial will be held 2:45 PM Friday, January 17, 2025 at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 375 32nd St Dr SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403.
