Mrs. Drewes, age 97, died on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Season's Hospice in Rochester. The memorial service for Helen Drewes will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2016, at Ranfranz Funeral Homes in Rochester. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The inurnment will be in Hamilton Cemetery near Racine, Minnesota. Memorials may be made to the Seasons Hospice, Salvation Army or National Diabetes Research Fund. Helen Rose Clark was born on November 24, 1918, in rural Grant County, Minnesota, to John and Rose (Smith) Clark, at the family farm near Barrett, Minnesota.She graduated from Elbow Lake High School, attended St. Cloud Teachers College and graduated with a two year teaching degree. Helen taught three years in rural schools in Fillmore County, Minnesota.She was united in marriage to Loraine Drewes on June 9, 1942.She was a homemaker while they farmed west of Racine, Minnesota.In 1973, they moved to Rochester.Helen was employed at the Minnesota State Highway Patrol office until her retirement in 1981. She had been a 4-H leader, Sunday school teacher, and member of the Evangel United Methodist Church, The Ruth Circle and the Golden Rule class.Helen was known amongst neighbors and relatives for her excellent cooking, hard work and management skills. She established the Helen Drewes Education Scholarship Fund at Stewartville High School for a graduating senior going into education. Survivors include daughters, Rozanne Witter of Apple Valley, MN and Marlys (Kenton) Jundt of Mobridge, SD; grandchildren, Jay (Jennifer) Witter, Andrew Witter, Dustin (May) Jundt and Sunny (Jeremy Brockman) Jundt; four great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her husband; 4 brothers and 1 sister.
