Helen Marie Nietz

ROCHESTER -Helen M. Nietz, 94, died on Monday, November 5, 2012 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Helen was born in New Richland, MN on April 23, 1918 to Frank and Margaret Crain. She graduated from New Richland High School in 1936.Helen attended Paul's Hairdressing Academy in Minneapolis and worked in Owatonna and Rochester.She later worked at Dayton's for 23 years in retail and bridal registry.Helen married Arnold Nietz on April 15, 1941 in Nashua, IA.Arnold was employed at Mayo Clinic for 44 years and died in 1999.Helen was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church and also was a member of Dayton's Retirement Club and Senior Citizens.She loved to cook, garden, and travel. Helen is survived by her children, Phyllis (Chuck) Horton, of Elk River, MN, David (Arleen) Nietz, of White Bear Lake, MN, and Bradley (Nikki) Nietz, of Rochester; 6 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; her parents; two brothers; one sister; and one grandchild. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 9, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 222 6th Ave SW. with Rev. Joel Haak officiating.Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church.Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester. Memorials can be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
