Helen Amelia Marie Kunz, 92, of Rochester, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Monday, June 5, 2017 at her home. Helen was born February 7, 1925 to Carl and Lois (Truax) Fuchs. At the age of 3, Helen was raised by her father and stepmother, Peg and then by her grandmother, Amelia Marie Fuchs. She was a graduate of Rochester High School. On August 3, 1943 in Douglas, she married Richard Kunz. Helen worked for the Mayo Clinic for 49 years in various roles from general service, information, physical medicine and finally as a telephone operator. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, going to the casino and riding horses. Helen loved music and dancing. She was a member of the Pine Island American Legion Auxiliary, the Mothers Club in Douglas and was intricate in getting the streetlights put up in Douglas. Helen was caring, generous with her time and of herself. She was fun loving, the glue in her family and cherished all the friendships she made over the years. Helen was a wonderful mother and grandmother and a devoted wife. She is survived by her loving husband of 74 years, Richard; children, Larry (Sandi) of Pine River, MN, Diana (Dale) Schwanke of Lake Nebagamon, WI, Bonnie (Richard) Reding of Danbury, WI, Pam (Greg) Reich of Rochester; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 6 great, great-grandchildren; nieces, Deb and Dee and their families; nephew, John and family and her beloved dogs, Fawn and Hope. Helen was preceded in death by her son, Dennis; infant son, Bruce and brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Mary Fuchs. A memorial service to celebrate Helens life will be held 11:00 AM Friday, June 9, 2017 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, 5421 Royal Place NW, Rochester. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Inurnment will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery at a later date.
