Helen Carrie (Whitney) Reeves age 86 of Rochester passed away March 9, 2012 at Maple Manor Health care where she had resided the past three months. Born May 28, 1925 in Concordia, Kansas the daughter of Dr. Carl J. & Carrie M. (Rasmussen) Whitney.She grew up and attended school in Concordia.On January 19, 1944 she married A. Bennett Reeves.They lived in various states while Mr. Reeves was enlisted in the Air Force during WWII.After the war, the couple settled in Rochester, MN and Mr. Reeves was employed by Mayo Clinic.Helen worked as a bank teller in Kansas and Georgia until the birth of her children when she became a full time homemaker.Helen enjoyed camping, crocheting and knitting, reading, writing poetry and some of writings were published.She loved her music and her enthusiasm for music was carried out through her involvement in the church choir and also singing at weddings and funerals for many years.She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she taught sunday school in addition to singing in the choir. She is survived by her children: Carol Breen (Ron) of Rochester and Craig Reeves (Karen) of Olathe, KS and five grandchildren and 1 great grandchild along with her siblings: Marian Carter of West Bend, WI; William F. Whitney of El Paso, TX and Clayton J. Whitney of Colorado Springs, CO.She was preceded in death by her husband. Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 15that First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jay Rowland officiating.
