Harriet (Grein) Rudd, 88, of Rochester, MN, peacefully went to her Heavenly Home with Jesus on November 14, 2024.
Funeral service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Rochester, MN, on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Niederstadt officiating. A livestream of the service is available at: hclc.tv/rudd.
Harriet was born in Lamberton, MN, to Harry and Louise Grein and grew up with her brothers on a farm near Windom, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Windom, MN. After high school, Harriet studied nursing at the Methodist Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, during which time she met Ed Rudd. The two were married for forty years and raised two sons, Matthew and Spencer. Harriet worked as an RN at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN, including being a flight nurse and working in the emergency room. In later years Harriet was active in the alumni organization of the Methodist Kahler School of Nursing, planning and speaking at reunions.
A long-term member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Harriet loved to worship God, including studying and publicly reading God's Word. She served as a wedding coordinator, on the Altar Care Team, in Vacation Bible School, and assisted with many other tasks. She delighted in strolling through the Holy Cross Courtyard. Talking and working with people at Holy Cross were her favorite times.
Harriet was an avid reader and did volunteer work teaching nursing to students. She loved to talk about farming, crops, the chickens she tended, and the weather. Harriet cared for her beloved Ed in his final years. A faithful servant, her love for family, church, and her Lord was evident.
Harriet is survived by her sons, Spencer and Matthew, of Rochester, brother Jerome (Maggie) Grein, of Minnetonka, MN, beloved nephews and niece. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, her parents, and brother Leonard.
