Harriet Allis Glasenapp

Harriet Allis Glasenapp, 96, a life long resident of Oronoco, died February 17, 2012 at the Samaritan Bethany Home on Eighth in Rochester. Harriet was born at the family home in Oronoco on May 5, 1915. She attended Pine Island High School, graduating in 1933. On October 8, 1937 she married Eckhardt (Eck) Glasenapp. They were married for 66 years until Eck passed away February 15, 2004. Harriet was a life long member of the Oronoco Presbyterian Church, serving in many roles. She holds the honor of being the first woman elected to the Session as a ruling elder. Harriet was recognized for her years of volunteer work with the senior citizens at the Rochester State Hospital. An ardent baseball fan all her life, she faithfully rooted for her Twins from the time they came to Minnesota. Harriet was one of the original organizers of the Oronoco senior citizens group, serving as its president for several years. She enjoyed playing cards, euchre and 500 being her favorites. Harriet is survived by a daughter, Susan Vincenty of Palos Verdes, California; three sons, Larry of Oronoco, Richard and wife Karen of Racine, WI, John and wife Ann of St. Paul; three grandchildren, Julie (James) Soyka, Laurie (Michael) Reid, Jordan Glasenapp; six great-grandchildren, Nicole and Matt Soyka, Brianna (Brie), Ryan, Michael and Megan Reid. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Alan, and a sister, Margaret (Marnie) Landy. A memorial service celebrating Harriets life will be held 11:00am Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church in Oronoco 20 3rd St. SW, Oronoco, MN 55960. Burial will be at a later date in the Oronoco Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Harriet may be sent to the Oronoco Food Shelf in care of the First Presbyterian Church, Box 118, Oronoco, MN55960. The Family would like to thank the staff at Samaritan Bethany for their loving care of our mother during her stay there.
