Harold L. Riess

ROCHESTER, MINN:Harold L. Riess, 87, died Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Good Samaritan Society-Bethany in Brainerd, MN.Harold was born August 11, 1924 on the family farm in Oronoco Township, Olmsted County, MN.He graduated from rural school District 6 in Olmsted County. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1945-1946.After military service, Harold worked for the Smith Bakery in Rochester until starting employment with the US Postal Service for 41 years.He retired in 1988. Harold was a member of the Evangel United Methodist Church in Rochester, and was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge and the Eagles.He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and friends. Surviving are his brother Clarence (Marlene) Riess of Kasson, MN, 2 sisters-in-law Frieda Riess of Rochester, MNand Ardath Riess of Buffalo, MN;and many nieces and nephews.Also surviving are his close friends Newt and Delores Nagel and the members of the Gerber family. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven sisters and six brothers. Visitation will begin at 10 am with funeral service at 11 am Monday, May 7, 2012 at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home Chapel in Rochester.Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
